Contemporary Window Treatments

Window treatment these days are making a big comeback. Light colored, fresh, minimal and translucent designs are what homeowners typically search for and use. Majority of them use curtains and blinds for their windows considering they inject more character to their homes.

Some opt for shades of paint and different fabric textures to mix with such curtains and blinds and blend in with the home’s décor. Some also go for Venetian blinds that have different colors. They are available in vintage inspired that could create more drama to the room.

Blinds are all the rage today. You can use them in every part of the house. They are so trendy and there are myriads to choose from in brick and mortar stores and online. For the most part, the cheapest are those with the white color considering they are classic. Contemporary styles of blinds are also everywhere and they have become trendier.

Blinds are perfect for bathrooms, kitchens, living rooms, practically any room. They could hold particular levels of humidity. That said, they aren’t just ideal in adorning the home but also for protection. They are available in horizontal and vertical styles. Dust doesn’t easily build up on them and they’re convenient to clean. Their maintenance is also a lot more convenient as compared to the other types.

More to these, there are now window treatments that come with remote controls. This feature makes it so much easier for homeowners to open and close the blinds. It can also function as a safety measure to dodge being caught by the sharp edges of the blinds.

If you want to inject more color, texture and a more special touch to your room, you can opt for curtains for your window treatment. Curtains are traditional and are usually seen in old homes. Now, they have gone through changes and have become more modern in appearance and presentation. You can choose from a variety of styles that would suit your taste and budget.

What Color window treatments?

Question by Jessica L: What Color window treatments?
Hi so…my couches are sage green and my walls are like a peach tone paint and the carpet is light brown and then all of our furniture is a dark wood so I was wondering what color would look good for the two window treatments in my living room?? I was thinking a light beige but I have no clue :(thanks

Answer by MailorderMaven
How about using the wall color in a deeper tone, with a sage accent? LIke these curtains from Bed Bath and Beyond, and use fabric glue or iron-on web tape to add a sage ribbon to the edge:

Or maybe these apricot drapes from the same site: http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/EnlargeProduct.asp?SKU=126538&ZMPHT=380/150088126538GZ.JPG

What color should my curtains be?

Question by Anissa: What color should my curtains be?
I have a purple sofa and chair. The walls have been painted a cream (off-white) color. I have a sliding glass door, which is the only place that needs a window treatment in the room. Besides the purple furniture, I have no other furniture in the room yet and I haven’t decided on a color scheme. What color should the curtains be?
I don’t have carpet in the basement. I have a brown linoleum floor. I plan to purchase an area rug.

Depending on what shade of purple your curtains are, you can go with a variety of colors. The easiest way to do this, is go to the paint store, (or even sherwin williams online) and find something close to your couch color on the little paint cards (or the closest thing). Then look for the booklet that shows the colors that the purple matches best with. Home Depot even has this in the paint section. You can then pick and a color from there. If your couch is a solid, I would use a patterned curtain to break up the color a little (stripes or flowers or dots) I like the idea of a curtain with a little orange in them. I wouldnt use cream, too plain for someone with a purple couch.

What type of room is it? If it’s a bedroom, select a contrasting pastel color. Green or blue would be nice. If it is a living room or dining room, go with a similar color. Not the same color, but something in the same family – a shade or 2 darker.

Q&A: Red living room furniture, what color walls and drapery?

Question by hairdoer: Red living room furniture, what color walls and drapery?
My living room furniture is red, I’m wondering what color to paint the walls, and what color window treatments I should get. My coffee table and end tables are walnut, and I have hard wood floors.

For paint, you could go with a deep brown or a slate gray. I think gold window treatments would work with a red couch and brown walls. Not a shiny gold, but more of a sheer gold. Experiment by picking up some paint samples at Lowe’s or Restoration Hardware. Have fun!

Window treament color help?

Question by : Window treament color help?
I have a Caribbean teal blue color on my focus wall and the other ones are beige. I have a wall art piece that has red blue white black and purple in it. My comforter is black with accent pillows that are a teal looking blue. I need help on what color scheme would work good for the window treatments. I don’t know which one to focus on! thanks a bunch

Best answer:

Answer by Ariel Love
Since your room already has a bunch of colors, I say you go with white curtains. Your room scheme seems beachy. White curtains could help finish off the clean, a super clean look that matches with all your colors nicely and polishes it off with some elegance. But if you’d rather do a color then I think you should go with the teal blue color. It all really depends on what wall the window(s) are on. If they are on the blue one then I say white 100% but if they are on the beige walls the blue might be better because the white might clash! Good luck!

What color curtains will go best with my red sofas?

Question by LizzieLiz ♥: What color curtains will go best with my red sofas?
I just moved into a studio apartment. I bought red sofas and my walls are painted a light yellow color. I have two big windows and I need window treatments because people driving by can see inside. What color curtains will go with my sofas? Or should I get blinds instead? Also should I get a rug? What color?

Best answer:

Answer by nellie
Curtains are “warmer” than blinds, so if you live in a cold climate you might want curtains. Since your walls are a light yellow, you might try matching the curtains to the walls; that should give your room a feeling of space as well. Yes, definitely, get a rug (unless you have beautiful hardwood floors!); a rug will help muffle sounds and provide a feeling of warmth and home. Your rug can pick up the colors in your curtains or your sofa, whichever you prefer. Good luck with your new apartment!

What kind of design like wall color and window treatments can I use with my new sofas? Pic of sofa!?

Question by working for the weekend!: What kind of design like wall color and window treatments can I use with my new sofas? Pic of sofa!?
My sofa is the top right..the greenish Loden. I call it the big comfy couch. The piping is a beige cream color and the posts are a deep dark mahagoney. http://www.furniturefair.net/products.cfm?categoryID=9

Id paint the walls in a color similar, but slightly darker, than the piping. Dark bamboo slat roman blinds on the windows. A dark brown leather arm chair and ottoman. Deep russet red and espresso brown accent cushions on the sofa.
