Check out the Smith and Noble website. They have a lot of information and a photo gallery where you can see some pictures of these items.

I’m not sure what you mean by “glass curtain”, but valance and swag; valance; and cornice are all treatments that go over a drapery usually at the top. The first two are considered soft treatments and the cornice is usually fabric and batting wrapped around a wood piece that adheres to the wall with brackets. You can find kits to make a cornice out of styrofoam or foam board.

Double window treatment I can only think means that you have say sheers under drapery panels.

Roman shades under draperies usually mean the draperies are stationary – they don’t open or close, and the roman shade provides the privacy and blocks light.

They all provide different looks and would be used in different styles of decorating (i.e. drapery with valance and swag might be more traditional where a roman shade and drapery could more contemporary/casual).

Vertical Blinds Will Not Leave You In The Dark

With the many available window treatments scattered all over the stores, it will definitely leave you dead thinking on which one to choose. But in terms of looking for the right ones for wherever like the house, office, or any kind of commercial building, the vertical blinds the your best choice.

This is not bragging or anything but vertical blinds are popularly used because it provides a wide range of scope that covers and protects large windows. It has evolved into becoming window covers, room dividers and accents for decoration. It also is not just pleasing to the eyes but also stylish, durable and easy to maintain when it comes to cleaning. There are also some vertical blinds that come in with solar protective backing making it more special in some ways. It also is the most fit option to manipulate the light that enters the room giving you whatever mood you like to settle in. No questions asked, it is the most fit option for your window.

But before anything else, how would you know if you are on the right path leading towards the vertical blinds perfect for you. Here are the criteria they have to pass before you put them up in your house. First, choose the right material. Oftentimes, vertical blinds are made out of fabric and PVC. PVC developed over the years and went through technological improvement that is why consumers can be assured of a more stylish and contemporary look. If you are particular with light inside the room, you can opt for fabric made blinds. They filter light very well. Second, stick to a budget. In the recent times, practicality is on top of the list. Set a budget and make things work around it. You need not to pay too much if you can have it cheap but good. Third, make measurements. One should not go to the store and randomly select a vertical blind. Instead, bring with you the specifics so you can purchase the one that will provide full length cover of your window or wall. Finally, select your color. Even to this little detail, it can instantly set the mood for your room. You can also match the blinds to the wall paint or to the furniture.

So there you have it. If you would only search for these criteria in your vertical blinds then you need not to be half blinded when picking them out from the rack. You can open your eyes wide and see how well they would go.

Q&A: Interior Design Help Please – Window Treatment needed!?

Question by expat g: Interior Design Help Please – Window Treatment needed!?
The focal point of our home has a big design flaw! The windows/doors follow a bay style – however the top windows the cement was poured straight.

We were able to get windows installed and the aluminum conformed to follow the bay style and it works well. Now I need to think about window cover because the afternoon sun comes in and really heats up the house. We brought an awning/canvas guy and he wanted to install all this iron extending way beyond the window so that it can cover the sides where bay goes in. Many have said to put the window treatment on outside instead of inside to prevent the heat from entering into the house in the first place. I’m up for that but I really don’t want anything too big that would distract from the look. No designs, frills, and I do like the light coming in without the heat. Any ideas? Thanks!

Particularly if this is a south facing window, the best thing would have been to use low-E argon gas filled insulated windows in the first place as to repel and insulate from the heat. In my opinion an awning works best for commercial or very traditional exteriors – and I do not think that is the look you are going for. You could do a pergola that extends the length of the window and will help diffuse some of the light and still keep the feeling of the house. You could look into professionally installed window films – they do make a solar film which will cut down on the heat but it will slightly darken the light coming in. Nothing dramatic or more than the light that an awning would have altered. You could also do plantation shutters (or wooden blinds, a less expensive version of the same idea) which will help some as well and give you maximum control and flexibility with how much light comes in. Aside from those two options – option 3 would be a motorized window shade but in the end it would be closing off the window to some degree to get some control over the light and heat. Where there is light – there is heat. So in the end you will have to choose between the two to some degree.

What kind of design like wall color and window treatments can I use with my new sofas? Pic of sofa!?

Question by working for the weekend!: What kind of design like wall color and window treatments can I use with my new sofas? Pic of sofa!?
My sofa is the top right..the greenish Loden. I call it the big comfy couch. The piping is a beige cream color and the posts are a deep dark mahagoney. http://www.furniturefair.net/products.cfm?categoryID=9

Id paint the walls in a color similar, but slightly darker, than the piping. Dark bamboo slat roman blinds on the windows. A dark brown leather arm chair and ottoman. Deep russet red and espresso brown accent cushions on the sofa.
