All-Season Window Decorating

Majority of window treatments are good for a season or two, but don’t work for the remaining seasons. When you happen to reside where climates have four seasons, window treatments aren’t good for the whole year. That is the reason why layering blinds brings both an aesthetic quality to windows and functional quality, too. With one installation, you may have blinds and shades that don’t just do filtering of light and UV rays, but can offer great insulation for the cold winter months. Here are some suggestions in regards to layering window blinds and shades.

•  EnviroFusion Textured Linen Roman Shades

If you want to have two shades at a time without having to decide which shade to go for, the EnviroFusion Textured Linen Roman Shades are great option. These are a mix of of cellular shades that are utilized as a liner for insulation along with Roman Shades that are elegant and chic.

•  Solar Screen Shades and Custom Drapes

Windows that are receiving a great amount of sunlight are perfect for views, but they can fade due to UV rays. With such shades, the view is still intact, but it can very well filter light for less eyestrain and glare on computer or television surfaces. They keep out the cold during wintertime and help with energy efficiency inside the home. They give privacy, but when they’re open, they beautify windows and help get color schemes in the room together.

•  Woven Wood Shades and Shade Liners

Woven wood shades are those South Pacific style woven wood blinds, also known as grass blinds. They give an extremely unique look with a tropical feel. However, they don’t offer privacy or energy efficiency. Per se, they have aesthetic value, but for practical purposes a liner is advised. A simple liner can have privacy and help in regulating temperatures.

These are just some of possible laying decorations for windows. In window treatments shops, be it online or physical, you can take home or order samples just to assess how colors and textures will go with your current interior design.

Window Blinds For Less

In the window treatments market, blinds almost always get the spotlight. Actually, curtains and blinds are the two most sought after window coverings. The beauty of curtains can never be overlooked. The oomph they give to our homes over the past few years is always well-loved. These days, more and more are choosing blinds.

They are both functional. They both protect homes from too much sunlight and prying eyes of the people outside, at least some of it. The main differences, though, are the maintenance cost, as well as the preferences of customers.

Window blinds are usually made of four different types of materials, namely metal, fabric, wood, and synthetic ones. These materials are utilized to come up with different types of blinds like shutters, roller blinds, horizontal and vertical blinds, as well as Roman blinds. The materials utilized in blinds greatly affect the price. Natural materials are usually priced higher than artificial or synthetic ones. For instance, faux wood blinds are much cheaper than real wood blinds.

True enough, natural materials have their own kind of allure. However, their maintenance calls for more effort on the part of the homeowner. Cleaning, polishing, and preventing scratches or any type of damage to your real wood blinds could require too much effort. We all live busy lives, and we can’t put too much of our precious time dwelling on our blinds.

Faux woods are actually scratch-resistant, and real wood, for the most part, doesn’t have this feature. You can also place them anywhere you want to, even in bathrooms, because they usually resist moisture, something real wood is not capable of.

This is just to give good reason for using top down bottom up shades instead of the ones made out of original material, but are similarly skillfully built. More to these, when you opt for low cost blinds, a few scratches will not bother you as much as a little scratch on your real wood blinds, since you know by heart how it burned a hole in your pocket.

What kind of window treatments give the most glamorous look?

Question by Pamela: What kind of window treatments give the most glamorous look?

Best answer:

Answer by breathe
It depends what kind of style you like. I love plantation shutters for a variety of reasons. They let in or keep out light very well, insulate your windows well and last a long time. They’re also classic so never go out of style. I like the wider slatted ones. They’re pretty expensive though! I’m getting ready to move out on my own again after divorce and won’t be able to afford them so I’m pondering about what to get on the windows at my next place. Maybe just simple mini blinds and nice curtains.
