Q&A: Apartment dweller with window frames made of aluminum or metal, how can I hang curtains?

Question by bjv24th: Apartment dweller with window frames made of aluminum or metal, how can I hang curtains?
Just moved into an apartment that has aluminum or metal window frames, any ideas on window treatments? I don’t wont to drill any holes in the walls and the blinds provided don’t offer enough privacy and too much light coming in at night?
Help, please.

I am sure that the windows you are talking about are not that deep and that the current window treatments take up the recess of the window. Also if it is like places I have lived they dont want you to remove the provided window treatments.

take some time, really look at the window and frame and wall…
maybe even make something that is freestanding from the floor.

Then design something that suits your needs.

Most importantly… patent your design and try to improve on it then sell it… There are probably a ton of people out there with the same problem as you and you could make money off of finding the solution. Then you can stop renting and put whatever kind of curtains you want up on the windows that you own.

The 2011-2016 Outlook for Woven Cotton Window Curtains Excluding Custom Made Curtains in Japan

The 2011-2016 Outlook for Woven Cotton Window Curtains Excluding Custom Made Curtains in Japan

The 2011-2016 Outlook for Woven Cotton Window Curtains Excluding Custom Made Curtains in Japan

This econometric study covers the latent demand outlook for woven cotton window curtains excluding custom made curtains across the prefectures and cities of Japan. Latent demand (in millions of U.S. dollars), or potential industry earnings (P.I.E.) estimates are given across some 1,000 cities in Japan. For each city in question, the percent share the city is of it’s prefecture and of Japan is reported. These comparative benchmarks allow the reader to quickly gauge a city vis-a-vis others. This statistical approach can prove very useful to distribution and/or sales force strategies. Using econometric models which project fundamental economic dynamics within each prefecture and city, latent demand estimates are created for woven cotton window curtains excluding custom made curtains. This report does not discuss the specific players in the market serving the latent demand, nor specific details at the product level. The study also does not consider short-term cyclicalities that might affect realized sales. The study, therefore, is strategic in nature, taking an aggregate and long-run view, irrespective of the players or products involved.

This study does not report actual sales data (which are simply unavailable, in a comparable or consistent manner in virtually all of the cities in Japan). This study gives, however, my estimates for the latent demand, or the P.I.E., for woven cotton window curtains excluding custom made curtains in Japan. It also shows how the P.I.E. is divided and concentrated across the cities and regional markets of Japan. For each prefecture, I also show my estimates of how the P.I.E. grows over time. In order to make these estimates, a multi-stage methodology was employed that is often taught in courses on strategic planning at graduate schools of business.

How to hang window blinds on a wall made out of brick or other type of window treatment that would work?

Question by jrunaas: How to hang window blinds on a wall made out of brick or other type of window treatment that would work?
We live in San Diego and the room in question gets a lot of morning sun. The room was a patio that someone enclosed with the far wall being all brick (fireplace). Where normally you would have drywall to screw in the brackets for blinds, you have a metal plate at the top of the window which the brick sits on. The rest of the house has wood blinds, but I’m up for anything – I just don’t know how to secure it. Any suggestions? Thanks

If allowable in your home, might try Liquid Nail. Can buy easily at Home Depot or Lowe’s, Its very strong, but you may have to hold the piece for a few minutes to let it set.

Without drilling into your brick this is the only option I can think of.

You could also try putting in a “roman shade” I believe they call it? These are available almost everywhere including Wal-Mart. It may not look like something you’d like but it would provide shade for you.

Best of luck!
