window treatment ideas for tall windows?

Question by H R: window treatment ideas for tall windows?
I have 18 foot ceilings in my living room. I would really like to add some sort of window treatment, we have shades right now, but with the tall ceilings, it just seems sort of empty, its also sort of a weird shaped alcove. the apartment managers don’t mind if I add curtains so thats all fine. theres a picture of the space (not mine but a model):

any ideas what I should do?

You should add stationary side panels the full height of the windows to them. Maybe add some interesting decorative hardware. It looks like your house is contemporary. I am not sure what your color scheme is. If you use a really large scale print 27″+ repeat it could look fabulous if you want to add some interest. Or if you want to keep it simple use a sheer. they have very interesting ones It looks like you have the privacy/fading issue covered with the blind. Also you might not be able to do a stationary panel next to the fireplace it is hard to tell. I think a “top” treatment would look like an amateur did it . Maybe you should hire a designer on a consultation basis if you want to do it yourself. I would advise having a pro do it.
